PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP:
Creating Ed-Venture!: Inclusive Multi-Sensory Stations for PreK–12 Libraries
Presenter: Mary Eldredge
Every learner’s journey is unique—so why should library instruction be one-size-fits-all? Embark on an interactive “Ed-Venture” where Universal Design for Learning (UDL), low-cost sensory tools, and workflow AI merge to create accessible, hands-on learning paths for PreK–12. Librarians will navigate hands-on station prototypes, practice adapting multi-sensory frameworks (from picture books to secondary research), and design custom learning pathways for their campuses. You’ll leave with a complete “Master Swipe File” of ready-to-use templates, prompts, and station blueprints. Bring a device and your creative spirit because your next big library ed-venture starts here!
Participants will leave with:
- The AI & UDL Master Swipe File: A curated digital repository of copy-and-paste Workflow AI prompts to instantly generate differentiated station task cards, visual communication supports, and multi-modal rubrics for PreK–12.
- 4 Plug-and-Play Station Blueprints: Complete instructional guides and material lists for four multi-sensory library stations (Tactile Mapping, Audio Soundscapes, Screen-Free Logic, and Visual Choice Boards) that scale across all grade bands.
- A Custom Lesson Prototype: A fully developed, grade-appropriate multi-sensory lesson plan or maker activity built during the workshop’s hands-on collaborative sprint.
- A Multi-Sensory “Make-and-Take” Starter Kit: Physical sample materials and low-cost tool ideas to immediately launch accessible, hands-on learning in your library on Monday morning.
- The Inclusive Library Audit Checklist: A practical tool to evaluate and enhance your current library space, programming, and instruction through a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) lens.
