PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP:
Build Your Vibe
Presenter: Peggy Reimers
Turn an instructional idea into an interactive digital activity with the help of generative AI. In this hands-on pre-conference workshop, you will learn the art of “vibe coding” — a process where you create digital tools simply by describing your vision (the “vibe”) in everyday language, while an AI handles all the complex programming behind the scenes. No prior coding experience is required.
Participants will explore examples of vibe-coded learning activities, identify the design features that make them effective, and use the VIBES Framework — Vision, Instruct, Build, Evaluate, and Share — to plan their own activity. With guided prompts and facilitator support, participants will use an AI tool to build a self-contained interactive webpage that can be used in a classroom, library, training, or professional learning setting.
Note: A paid account is strongly recommended for this session. Free accounts may have limitations that could affect your ability to fully participate in the hands-on activities.
Participants will leave with:
- A working prototype of an interactive digital activity they created
- A practical understanding of vibe coding and how educators can use it
- The VIBES Framework for planning and developing future activities
- Reusable prompts for building, revising, and troubleshooting with AI
- Strategies for testing activities and using feedback to improve them
- A plan for saving, sharing, and adapting their activity for learners
Outline:
- Welcome and short-coded assessment
- Explore vibe-coded examples
- Deconstruct with the VIBES framework
- Watch an Idea Become a prototype
- Choose and plan with an archetype
- Build your own with a self-contained webpage with AI
- Revise based on feedback
- Save, share and reflect
