2027 Leadership Summit

Leading What’s Next: Practical Leadership for Complex Schools and Systems

District and campus leaders are facing more challenges than ever as they do their utmost to advance teaching and learning. How do you do justice to your educators and your students when so much seems to be changing? How can you establish a fair standard that can handle the common issues, but can still resolve the outliers that test your principles?

The 2027 TCEA Leadership Summit is here to help you find your path forward! Taking place from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, this closed-door half-day workshop will give you the insight, resources, and networking opportunities you need to develop critical leadership skills and actionable strategies.

What’s in store for Leadership Summit attendees?

  • Actionable Decision-Making: Gain practical frameworks to distinguish immediate problems from systemic challenges, communicate expectations clearly, and guide your teams through uncertainty with confidence and trust.
  • Peer-Powered Problem Solving: Bring your real-world leadership challenges to the Leadership Summit and use facilitated group exercises to crowdsource proven strategies and tactics from fellow district and campus leaders.
  • Tangible Takeaways: Leave with an individualized action plan and concrete ideas to implement immediately.
  • Lasting Connections: Utilize dedicated networking time during lunch and the closing reception to expand your PLN.

Opening: Leading What’s Next

12:45 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Lead the Moment. Shape the System.

How do leaders distinguish between the problem that needs to be solved today and the larger condition that needs to change over time? In this section, you’ll explore decision-making amid competing demands, recognize when a challenge requires a quick response versus deeper adaptation, and identify where leaders can exert meaningful influence.

1:30 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.

Communication That Creates Movement

Leadership increasingly means helping people move through uncertainty, resistance, competing priorities, and change. This section focuses on practical ways leaders create clarity, build trust, communicate expectations, navigate difficult conversations, and bring people along rather than simply announcing a direction.

2:25 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.

The Leadership Lab: Solve It Together

Bring real leadership challenges to the table and work through them using a facilitated problem-solving process. You and your fellow participants will experience the peer network itself as a leadership resource—not simply hear another speaker tell you what to do.

3:15 p.m. – 3:50 p.m.

From Insight to Action

In this closing section, you’ll articulate the themes, tactics, and goals you’ve developed, as well as one idea or practice you are taking from another leader in the room.

3:50 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Closing

4 p.m. – 5 p.m.
