Understanding Poster Sessions
Poster Pavilion

What are poster sessions?
Think science fair for adults! Attendees can freely explore the poster pavilion from session to session at their own pace. They can choose to visit as few or as many of these sessions as they would like. No formal presentation is given.
Benefits of poster sessions
Less Formal: This is a great way for first time presenters to “get their feet wet” by presenting in a less formal format.
Personalized Learning: Attendees have the opportunity to come and get what they need from the session, get their questions answered and move on. Poster sessions range from introductory level to advanced and presenters are able to easily customize their information based on attendees’ experiences and needs. It calls for a unique experience of personalized learning.
10 Posters at Once: In a short amount of time, attendees can gain a tremendous amount of knowledge from 10 different people.
Professional Learning Network: Posters give you an opportunity to meet a lot of people, increasing your professional learning network quickly.
What to include in your poster session?
Each poster session is provided with a 6 foot table, 24” monitor with HDMI and VGA cables, barstool, and a large floor standing bulletin board. Presenters should bring digital peripherals and their own device, to connect to the 24” display.
Presenters are encouraged to bring other manipulatives to place on the table and bulletin board. You may bring posters, cut outs, and more to attach to the bulletin boards provided. The opportunity for creativity with the boards are endless. In addition, examples, handouts, business cards, candy, and swag are some of the many items poster presenters have displayed on the tables provided.
